Glossary
- Administration module
A module that manages and stores data used by Talentsoft modules, such as employee information. Administrators use this module to configure the behaviour of the Talentsoft suite.
- Authorisation
The permission for a user (list owner) to view the information for a list of employees, and see these employees in the Talentsoft modules.
- Authorisation scope
The combination of roles & rights, authorisations, and automatic rules that define which employees and employee information a user can see in the Talentsoft modules.
- Back Office
The back office in the TMS is the area accessible to those with a role of training manager or above, it is where the principal activities to organise and manage training take place.
- Certification
Professional training that certifies the competencies of the trainee when successfully completed.
- Employee file (Administration module)
The employee file in the Administration contains data about employees mirrored from the Core HR employee file if your TMS is integrated with the Core HR module. If your TMS is not integrated with the Core HR module, the Administration is the master of the employee data.
- Employee profile (My Cegid-Talentsoft Home page)
The employee profile is accessible from the My Cegid-Talentsoft home page, it contains information about the employee, such as their direct manager and employees their direct reports.
- External Training
Training provided by an external training provider.
- Field
Area in the graphical user interface where information is entered in a specified format so that it can be saved to the database.
- Front Office
The front office in the TMS is the area accessible to all users, it is made up of the training widgets and the catalogue. Employees have access here to their own training information and that of their team if they are a manager.
- Group Requirement
Non-nominative declaration of a training need, created by managers or training managers and intended to allow for the anticipation of training costs.
- Hierarchical library
A library which has a tree structure. It has one root, or parent, level. The root level can have multiple child nodes. A child node can have its own child nodes.
- Individual Requirement
Nominative declaration of a training need, created by an individual employee, their manager or a training manager. Approved individual requirements are linked to a registration for training for the employee.
- Intelligence Module
Module in the Talentsoft suite where most TMS specific administration is managed. For instance, TMS specific notifications.
- Inter
This criterion is used to calculate the educational costs of the training (in the budget) and the sessions (for actual cost calculation). Inter-company training brings together employees from different companies to follow the same training.
- Internal Training
Training provided by an internal training provider.
- Intra
This criterion is used to calculate the educational costs of the training (in the budget) and the sessions (for actual cost calculation). Intra-company training brings together employees from the same company to follow the same training.
- Key property (KPP)
Key properties are libraries used in the Administration module to tag employee files with values. KPP values can be applied to people or elements, and they can be applied for periods of time. Their functioning is different from TMS libraries.
- Learning Content Management System (LCMS)
The LCMS is a module where training content for online and blended training courses in the LMS is created.
- Learning Management System (LMS)
The LMS is a module that is sometimes paired with the TMS and is where online training courses and blended learning courses are managed and hosted.
- Library
A group of data elements organised in a hierarchical or flat structure that are related to one topic, such as geographic location, contract types or business entities.
- Module
A product in the Talentsoft software suite, such as TMS, Recruiting or LMS.
- Quicklook
In tabs with summary tables, quicklooks display when you select an item from the table. A quicklook is a small section that appears adjacent to the main display panel, providing key information about the selected item and a link to the full information page.
- Reference data
Reference data is used in Talentsoft to define value lists that allow you to restrict some input fields to a set of predefined values. They are flat lists with no tree structure. Some TMS drop-down menus are "system" lists that cannot be modified, as they influence application behaviour (Language, action costs, Internal/External, Inter/Intra, Session costs, Training category, Attendance type, Registration costs).
- Registration
Enrolment of an employee for a specific session of training.
- Right
A type of permission in the Talentsoft suite. For example, the right to access a Talentsoft module, to access an area in a sub-module, to see a library or data, or to perform an action. The combination of activated and deactivated rights create roles.
- Role
A set of activated rights configured to suit a particular function in a company, such as manager, training manager or administrator. Attributing a role to an employee gives them the ability to see data and take action in the Talentsoft modules.
- Session
Training course carried out over a certain period of time and in a specific location, for instance, a training centre for face-to-face training or a virtual classroom online.
- Training Budget
Training budgets track costs in time and/or money using requirements and the status of registrations to calculate estimated, committed and completed training costs for a set period, for instance, a year.
- Training Catalogue
Browsable list of available training organised by category. Employees can create training requirements and registrations for training courses and programmes from the catalogue.
- Training Course
Training components that can be standalone or used to build training programmes.
- Training Management System (TMS)
The TMS is a module that allows organisations to consolidate and manage the training needs and the training undertaken by the company's employees.
- Training Theme
Tree structured diagram used to classify training courses. The parent level is the training theme. The child levels are training sub-themes.
- User account
A unique identification which gives a user the ability to access the Talentsoft suite if the user account is set to active status. User accounts are created in the Administration module.
- Workflows
Workflows represent the entire succession of statuses of an object in a specific context. They are managed by import in the Administration module.
